Winter Pests are Especially Annoying for These Reasons
The cold weather has been smashing much of North America in January. Temperatures across the nation have been below freezing and snow and ice are abundant. In this article we want to go over a few reasons why pests seem particularly annoying in the winter time.
Pests are less active outdoors in the winter because they too are affected by the low temperatures. Insects and many mammals are less active active in order to conserve energy. Some even go into hibernation mode. Others, however, simply look for shelter and continue with their everyday activities.
“Roaches and other scavenger bugs use cracks in the building, small holes in the screens, and even plumbing pipes to gain entrance into your home,” said Paul, who work pest control in Brevard County, Florida. “Now you are seeing these bugs more because you both are forced indoors.”
Another issue are bedbugs. These little parasites are as happy as the proverbial “bug in a rug” because they stay nice and warm when a human is laying in bed. They usually attack at night when you are sleeping. Without proper pest control, they will go on doing this endlessly.
You may also hear or see rodents such as rats, mice, possums or even squirrels in your walls or attic. This type of problem must be addressed immediately before permanent damage is done by the creatures eating materials or releveling themselves. They have been known to destroy walls, ceilings, crawls spaces and just about any surface in your home.
If you notice pest activity this winter, it is a good idea to tackle the problem right away and to not put it off.
