International Student stream and its application process

International Student stream

by talentconnected

For people who have just graduated from Canada, the International Student stream of Ontario’s Employer Job Offer is the best option. For the international student stream, candidates must have a job offer for skilled employment from an Ontario company. Express Entry Canada draw is not compatible with this stream, so there may be a delay in the application processing.

So, if you want to immigrate to Ontario, you have to apply for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) with the help of Canada immigration consultants in Delhi. Then submit the application to the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Once your application will be approved then you can apply for permanent residence status. You can add dependent children and spouse or common-law partner on the application.

Applicant eligibility requirements for International Student Stream

To invite candidates, the International Student Stream uses a points-based ranking system to apply for nominations. To be eligible, you have to meet the minimum eligibility criteria for the OINP Employer Job Offer: International Student stream. But meeting the eligibility does not guarantee you the invitation. Canada immigration consultants in Delhi can tell you the detailed knowledge about this but the following are the requirements:

  1. Canadian educational credential

You must either have a degree or diploma of at least two years or a diploma or a certificate of at least one year on a full-time basis. Both the credentials should represent your complete degree as an admission requirement. The diploma or a degree must be from a Canadian institution and you must have completed half of the program while living and studying in Canada.

  1. Job offer from an Ontario employer

You must have a full-time and permanent position job offer from an Ontario employer. It must have been listed on the National Occupation Classification Skill Level 0, A, or B.

Your salary must be more than the minimum wage for that occupation in the specific Ontario region where you will be employed. The role must be crucial to the employer’s operations.

  1. Other eligibility criteria

As the Canada immigration consultants in Delhi say, you have to meet several additional eligibility criteria to apply. Those requirements are as follows:

  • You must have a plan or intention to live in Ontario
  • At the time of application, you must be a resident of Canada legally.
  • You must keep that legal status throughout the application process
  • You must be able to enter Canada legally and medically.

Employer eligibility requirements for International Student Stream

Not only you but the employers must also meet some of the requirements to be eligible for the OINP Employer Job Offer: International Student stream. They must have been in operation for at least three years previous to the application deadline in order to be able to make a qualifying job offer. They also need to have physical locations in Ontario. The employer must also fulfill the following requirements:

  1. Revenue requirements

To satisfy the revenue criterion for the most recently completed financial year, the employer must have a minimum of $1,000,000 in total gross annual revenue for the GTA or a minimum of $500,000 in total gross annual revenue outside the GTA.

  1. Full-time employee requirements

The employer must have five full-time employees who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are working where you will work or will report to work at a location in the Greater Toronto Area.

Or the employer must have at least three full-time Canadian citizens or permanent residents’ employees who are working where you will work or will report to work at a location outside the Greater Toronto Area

These are the two basic requirements an employer must meet to make an application for the employment position by filling out and signing an OINP Employer Form.

The application process for the OINP Employer Job Offer: International Student stream

To apply under the OINP Employer Job Offer: International Student stream, you must follow these five simple steps:

  1. Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).

In the very first step, you have to begin by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) using the OINP e-Filing Portal. A points-based ranking system is used for the international student stream. You must rank well to receive an invitation to apply for this stream. You will be given a score after submitting an EOI based on the OINP EOI Selection System.

  1. Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA)

In the second step, if you clear the cutoff score in the ONIP periodical draw for candidates then you will be nominated for the OINP. An invitation will be issued to you telling you to apply for the main application.

  1. Submit an application for provincial nomination

In the third step, once you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), the OINP will give you 60 calendar days to submit your complete application with relevant documents. You can submit the application electronically using a one-key account with the help of Canada immigration consultants in Delhi. Your application will require extensive personal information and supporting documentation. Make sure to keep those documents before you receive an ITA.

  1. Receive a provincial nomination

In the fourth step, you have to wait for the provincial nomination. The processing time may vary for OINP applications. However, an OINP application takes between 30 and 150 days for complete processing.  If your application is approved, then you will receive a formal provincial nomination from the province of Ontario.

  1. Apply for the permanent resident status

In the fifth step, if you have received a provincial nomination, then you have to submit an application to the Canadian government for permanent resident status. This application for the Canada PR is much similar to the application for provincial nomination.

These are the steps you can follow to submit your application for the International Student stream. Furthermore, the Employer Job Offer stream is not compatible with express entry Canada draw, which results in a delayed processing time for the applications.

That is why Canada immigration consultants in Delhi say that one should expect to wait longer than a year for their application to be approved.
