  • Tap ‘File’ in Outlook followed by ‘Open & Export’ and lastly ‘Import/Export.’
  • A wizard will start. From here, select ‘Import from another program or file.’ Then tap ‘Next.’
  • For importing CSV contacts to Outlook, select ‘Comma Separated Values’ and tap ‘Next.’
  • At this step, make some choices. Tap ‘Browse’ and double-tap yours. CSV file. Select how to manage ‘Duplicate contact items.’
  • Tap ‘Next.’
  • Choose the contacts folder below the target email account and tap ‘Next.’
  • If you are importing your CSV contacts that you have earlier exported from Outlook, the contact list will be in the needed format. So, tap ‘Finish’ to begin importing contacts. If a specific column name in the CSV file precisely matches an Outlook field, it is mapped automatically. But if the column name doesn’t match, you’ll need to do the manual mapping.
  • Drag the column from the left pane. Place it beside the corresponding field in the right pane. 
  • You’ll find a progress bar that’ll display that Outlook has started importing your contacts.

 

The Process of Importing Contact to Outlook from PST File

You may wish to import your contacts from a PST instead of a CSV if you want to transfer every Outlook item, like contacts, emails, tasks, and appointments. The steps to import your contacts from the .pst file into Outlook are as follows.

 

  • Go to Outlook and tap ‘File’ followed by ‘Open & Export’ and then choose ‘Import/Export.’
  • Select ‘Import from another program or file.’ Then, tap ‘Next.’
  • Select ‘Outlook Data File (.pst)’ and tap ‘Next.’
  • Tap ‘Browse’ and select the PST file you wish to import.
  • Below ‘Options,’ you should select how you would like to deal with duplicate items. Then tap ‘Next.’
  • If the .PST file is password-protected, you should input the password.
  • Below the ‘Select the Folder to Import from,’ choose ‘Outlook Data File’ if you wish to import the entire pst. Alternatively, expand it and select only a specific subfolder to import. 
  • In case the target account is chosen in the Navigation pane, you can select ‘Import items into the current folder.’ If not, tick ‘Import items into the same folder’ and select the mailbox in which you want to import contacts.
  • Tap ‘Finish.’
